Each year, the third Monday of January is dedicated to Martin Luther King, Jr. Prior to that day this year, I attended the movie Green Book, based on a a true story that occurred in the 1960s. I was incredibly moved by the film, which depicted incidences of racial prejudice and discrimination.

Moustafa Gadalla is an Egyptian-American, independent Egyptologist and the author of many acclaimed books about the aspects of ancient Egyptian history and civilization, and its influences worldwide. In his book Isis: The Divine Female, focus is placed on the goddess Isis—a deity associated with maternal devotion, fidelity, and tenderness. Isis represents the divine female principle, which includes the creative power that conceived (both physically and metaphysically) and brought forth all living creatures. Gadalla says:

PEACE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

During this time of year, peace becomes a central theme—whether at church, within families, or among other gatherings of people. Peace is in the air! Such is the case for the New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus, directed by Aaron Howe. The Journal North newspaper recently reported that Howe wants to create a space where people can “acknowledge each other’s humanity” despite their differences. He believes that, above all, peace means “looking out for the well-being of everyone.” I feel that this is such an important message, especially during this particularly divisive time.
