Shawn Dromgoole is a twenty-nine-year-old black man who has lived in the same Nashville neighborhood his entire life. His family has been in the neighborhood known as 12 South for fifty-four years. Ever since he was a child he felt unease in his home town, acutely aware that few people looked like him.

VITAL MEALS HELP HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS AMID CORONA VIRUS CRISIS

According to a recent New York Associated Press article, the Nachas Health and Family Network in Brooklyn has been forced to suspend its counseling services, exercise classes, and Torah lessons due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Now they rely on the kindness of Israel Frischman, who volunteers to continue delivering kosher meals to Holocaust survivors, many of whom live in poverty, are in their eighties and nineties, and are at high risk for contagion. Frischman, a caterer, perseveres despite personal risk and lack of compensation.

According to WMTV in Wisconsin, when an excited elementary school student asked Michelle Belnavis if she was the “owner” of Read Your Heart Out, she proudly said, “I’m the mother of Read Your Heart Out. This is my baby that I’ve nurtured for 16 years now.”
