According to a recent CNN article, a five-year-old boy’s entire kindergarten class showed up for his adoption hearing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The class sat behind their classmate, Michael, waving big red hearts mounted on wooden sticks to show their support.

AGE IS AN ILLUSION

Blog82

As I was exercising at the local gymnasium last week, I heard a woman recounting a story she had read that piqued my own interest. The tale involved an intruder not counting on an eighty-two-year-old woman who lived alone being an award-winning body builder with nerves of steel.

NEIGHBORHOOD EXPERIENCES

Blog79

More than twenty years ago, Sharon Adams moved back to her childhood home in the Lindsay Heights neighborhood outside of Milwaukee, after living in New York City for thirty years. When she arrived, prostitutes roamed the streets, drivers cruised in search of drugs, and gunshots were heard almost every day. AMAZING FEAT OF A TEENAGER

Blog76A

Recently, Swedish teen and climate activist Greta Thunberg crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a zero-emissions sailboat to attend the 2019 UN Climate Summit being held in New York City. According to the New York Associated Press, as the social-media-savvy teenager approached New York Harbor, she tweeted, "Land!" Greta refused to fly because of the carbon cost of plane travel. A 2018 study indicated that because of cloud and ozone formation, air travel may trap two to four times more heat than caused by emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. In contrast, the onboard electronics of the sailboat Greta traveled on were powered by solar panels and underwater turbines. Inscribed on the boat’s sail are the words: UNITE BEHIND THE SCIENCE.
